After years in advocacy and social work, I found myself burned out and quite frankly, lost. I had spent several years in college and dedicated myself to serving others, only to find myself defeated. I took a step back searching for an answer. What on earth was I going to do? It was all I knew.
Trust me, it wasn’t overnight that I figured things out, but sure enough, I did. The answer had always been right there in front of my two “blind” eyes…I always found happiness whenever I was with my pets (1 dog, 3 cats—yes, a full house lol). They were therapeutic, grounding, and always loved me. I mean, what’s better, right?!
This realization led me to pet care, where I began working for an award-winning, veterinary-recommended dog walking service. It quickly became clear that this was more than a job—it was a calling.
While I enjoyed all aspects of pet care, I was especially drawn to the cognitive and emotional needs of animals (go figure lol). As a former Aussie owner, I understood firsthand the importance of giving dogs a job, exercise, and purposeful activity. I found myself naturally designing enrichment activities that engaged their minds and honored their instincts.
Surprisingly, I noticed many parallels between my past work with children and my new role with pets. Just as I used to create individualized, in-home activities for impoverished children, I began crafting personalized enrichment for each pet based on their unique breed, temperament, and needs.
This connection between pet psychology and child development lit a fire in me. I saw how misunderstood many pets were—and how often their challenging behaviors stemmed from unmet needs. I realized I could bridge that gap.
By educating owners, customizing care, and nurturing the whole pet—mind and body—I could help create more peaceful, balanced homes built on mutual understanding.
And so, Playtime Adventures was born:
A pet care service rooted in compassion, enrichment, and a deep respect for the individuality of every animal. Here, pets aren’t just cared for—they are truly connected with and genuinely understood.
